This post is short and sweet: I have a great, free, resource for you to try at home. I’m talking about the Opportunity Exercise from the Gottman Card Deck!
The Gottman Card Deck is an app that you can download for free. In the card deck, there are many guided conversations such as intimacy with the salsa decks, ideas for expressing passion with the salsa card decks, or conversation aids with the I feel or the expressing empathy card decks.
For this specific article, I want to highlight the Opportunity Card Deck! Why this deck? Because I’m hearing a lot of couples who are inspired by summer and want to do something fun. At the same time, they do not want to do the same date ideas. This deck helps give you ideas on how to connect. The deck has many options; however, here are a few:
- Give your partner a special massage – if you don’t know how watch a YouTube video or get a book to learn.
- Buy a surprise present for your partner.
- Plan a reunion party of all your partner’s friends.
- Discover your partner’s turn-ons and incorporate them into lovemaking.
- Find out your partner’s favorite movies and watch them together.

- Write a love letter and mail it to your partner.
- Prepare a surprise breakfast in bed.
- Spend time in the garden together.
- Plan some way that you would like to improve your home.
