28 Autumn Date Ideas

Discover 28 Autumn Date Ideas to spice up your romance. From pumpkin patches to cozy movie nights, create unforgettable autumn memories with your partner!

The leaves are changing, there is a chill in the air – it’s time for some autumn date nights! There are fun activities to do with your partner whether you are a summer person and want to hang on to outdoor activities or if autumn is your favorite season.

Before I give you some of my ideas, I want to briefly talk about the pressure of choosing a date. I often hear couples want to do something new and fun. That date has to be new. In reality, some “cliché” date ideas are cliché for a reason – they work! A dinner date is classic because it’s a great way to spend quality time together. In short, don’t feel pressure to do something new all the time! A date is a win whether or not it is a new adventure. Here are 28 autumn date ideas to do with your partner before the snow arrives!

28 Autumn Date Ideas:

  1. Have a late lunch picnic – when the sun is at its warmest!
  2. Get in a last hike for the year at your favorite spot
  3. Last-minute pre-snow camping
  4. Visit a pumpkin patch (a classic!)
  5. Choose (or purchase) one another’s outfits for the pumpkin patch
  6. …and then carve those pumpkins with the apple cider you picked up there, too.
  7. Planning Halloween dinner
  8. Make homemade Halloween costumes – the tackier, the better
  9. Purchase a new blanket for a snuggly movie night
  10. Can the last round of produce from your garden or make homemade jelly
  11. Watch a scary movie or go to a haunted house
  12. Visit the farmer’s market for seasonal produce and baked goods
  13. Create seasonal cocktails or mocktails. This might include cider or warm, cinnamon flavors
  14. At-home massages together with your favorite, scented oils
  15. Waking up to watch the sunrise – especially since the sun doesn’t rise too early anymore
  16. Drive through the mountains to see the leaves changing
  17. Spa day before you get busy with the holidays
  18. Firepit in the backyard
  19. Talk about your hopes for an upcoming trip – even if it is a beach trip next summer
  20. Explore your goals for the rest of 2023
  21. Hot cocoa bar – purchase or make a cocoa mix and then have fun with some add-on flavors or toppings (you can also do this with candy apples)
  22. Finally, go out to eat at that restaurant you’ve been wanting to visit
  23. Invite other couple friends over for charcuterie
  24. Make brunch after you make/buy your favorite coffee
  25. Stay-cation at a local bed and breakfast. You don’t necessarily have to go far for a night out of the house
  26. Volunteer together at the animal shelter, food bank, or with your favorite local non-profit organization
  27. Take most of the night to go to a dinner theatre. Here in Fort Collins, you may want to look at the Dinner Detective, Bas Bleu, or the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse just south of us.
  28. Missing summer? Go shopping for a new house plant

Want a faster idea? Communicate your gratitude or excitement to your partner.

For Summer People: If you miss summer, perhaps you can show gratitude for what you enjoyed about this last summer. Take a moment to tell your partner your favorite memory over the past few months. I’m more of a summer person myself and I’m thankful for the clients who place their trust in my work, spending time in the backyard in the sun with my beloved dog, for the many farmer’s market trips, and for my warm bike rides. Perhaps think about what you’re thankful for and what date you can incorporate into autumn!

For Autumn Lovers: If you are excited about autumn, take a moment to share your excitement with your partner. Consider reflecting on this season and why you enjoy it. Is it the brisk air or the changing colors? If you’re excited about autumn, think about ways to share that excitement with your partner – no pressure – this can be an experience or a conversation. Share a piece of your excitement with them for a fun connection opportunity on a time crunch!
